You might see that I have a link to my email on this blog and on Instagram so authors can contact me if they wish. Kathryn Troy did that for her book A Vision in Crimson and I happily accepted! This means that I received a copy of this book free in return for an honest review.

Katelyn knows her magic is risky, but Icaryan light is fading fast and she is desperate. Her narrowing path leads her to Luca, a vampire hybrid living on the outskirts of humanity. Mutual attraction ignites their weary hearts. The rogue hunter follows Katelyn into a world teeming with wonder and danger, forsaking his own quest to root out his father.
But his father has not forgotten him.
A Vision in Crimson is the first book of a dark epic fantasy fraught with passion, peril, and magic.
However…turns out this book wasn’t for me and I couldn’t finish. I hate doing that for books I’ve been sent but there’s definitely still some good points I’ll be sharing!
A Vision in Crimson is a wacky fantasy with some emotional twists. The plot focuses on a dhampir called Luca who has been travelling around, trying to hunt down Dracula, his father. I felt torn on Luca. I liked how done with the world he was but his pretty much instant infatuation with Kate was a put-off. Especially considering the dream he was having about her as she woke him up…yeahhh, no thanks.
Kate was a pretty interesting character on her own though. She’s from earth in 1884 but travelled to another world she now wants to save. She picks up strays along the way and didn’t put up with shit. There’s so much that’s changed about the world and she just gets on with what she needs to do. I liked her and I think other people will too. It just wasn’t for me.
If you’re looking for a fun, different read with magic and vampires then this is the book for you. It’ll make you laugh and is bound to break your heart.
