Can’t Wait Wednesday : Song of the Dead by Sarah Glenn Marsh

Whether you want to call it by the old name of Waiting on Wednesday ran by Jill at Breaking the Spine or the newer Can’t Wait Wednesday held over at Wishful Endings – today is the day to highlight upcoming books you’re excited for.

I’m starting this weekly meme with one that’s being released soon and I’m super excited for my preorder of!

Title: Song of The Dead
Author: Sarah Glenn Marsh
Age Range: YA
Genre: Fantasy
Publisher: Razorbill
Release: 22nd Jan 2019

Karthia is nothing like it used to be. The kingdom’s borders are open for the first time in nearly three hundred years, and raising the dead has been outlawed. Odessa is determined to explore the world beyond Karthia’s waters, hoping to heal a heart broken in more ways than she can count. But with Meredy joining the ocean voyage, vanquishing her sorrow will be a difficult task.

Despite the daily reminder of the history they share, Odessa and Meredy are fascinated when their journey takes them to a land where the Dead rule the night and dragons roam the streets. Odessa can’t help being mesmerized by the new magic–and by the girl at her side. But just as she and Meredy are beginning to explore the new world, a terrifying development in Karthia summons them home at once.

Growing political unrest on top of threats from foreign invaders means Odessa and Meredy are thrust back into the lives they tried to leave behind while specters from their past haunt their tenuous relationship. Gathering a force big enough to ward off enemies seems impossible, until one of Queen Valoria’s mages creates a weapon that could make them invincible. As danger continues to mount inside the palace, Odessa fears that without the Dead, even the greatest invention won’t be enough to save their fates.

In this enthralling, heartrending sequel to Reign of the Fallen, Odessa faces the fight of her life as the boundaries between the Dead and the living are challenged in a way more gruesome than ever before.

If you’ve spoken to me at all then you’ll already know how much I adored Reign of the Fallen last year and that I think Sarah is an amazing person as well as a writer. The world she has given us in his series is so beautiful yet dark, the characters were fascinating and the romance was fun. It was an unforgettable novel and I needed more seconds after finishing it.

At the end of book one we saw Odessa and Meredy leaving Karthia. After what had happened between them before you know something is going to start to bloom in this book romance wise, even if it is slow due to their losses. I won’t lie…I did ship Odessa with someone other than Meredy or Evander…ahem…Jax. I kind of loved the chemistry there.

But this book is taking Odessa and Meredy somewhere new, somewhere with more dead and with dragons. Yeah, you read that right, dragons. One of the characters on the new character cards you could get if you pre-ordered was a very adorable dragon. There’s bound to be some beautiful world building and it’ll be fun to see what we’re introduced to next.

Ugh just talking about this book makes me need it now. The cover is just so pretty sigh.

Why don’t you let me know what new release are you excited for that’s out soon?
