My Friends (and Family) Pick my TBR!

I’ve been doing the ole’ TBR box and pile for a while and it’s done me well. When I started it, I finally got through the books I’d had for years. And since then I’ve been getting through books only a few months after getting them.

Whenever I get a new book, it goes in the TBR box and then when I only have a few books in my current pile left, I pick out a few I’m really excited for and some I aren’t and have to read through that pile.

It’s pretty simple and after watching so mnay TBR games I wanted to change it up a little.

Hence showing my friends, brother and mum all my books and asking them to pick what I should read. This was mostly judged via the cover so I had some good variety.

The books picked were:

  • Ivory and Bone by Julie Eshbaugh
  • The Dragon Keeper by Robin Hobb
  • One of Us is Lying by Karen M McManus
  • The Girl the Sea Gave Back by Adrienne Young
  • Bronze Gods by A.A Aguirre
  • Rebel by Marie Lu
  • Crownbreaker by Sebastien De Castell

So I’m not all the way through this pile yet. In fact, I’ve thrown a reread in there before the final two books but those are the two books I knew I’d love.

Out of the other five I finished one and it was only 3 stars.

So that means that four books that were picked out for me were DNFs and it makes me wonder how well people know me. Or if it’s just that cover picks don’t usually work.

It’s sad really as I was so excited to write up this super loving blog post where my friends picked my books and they were all so good. But that didn’t happen. Fortunately, I didn’t pay full price for any of the DNF books so it wasn’t a waste of my money but it does suggest that I need to be a little pickier before getting books.

I think I’m definitely going to try this again at a later date but for now I trying out picking out book titles from a cup and should hopefully get through some of my e-books and short story collections.
