It’s been a long while since I did one of these! I’m not even sure if this is still going by this anymore! You’ll have to let me know what the new thing is if not.
But this Wednesday I’m talking about a book that’s coming out in the next few months that I’m super excited for. I’ve been really in the mood for YA thrillers recently so this one is right up my alley right about now!
These Vengeful Hearts follows Ember Williams, a sixteen-year-old girl who two years ago witnessed what the ruthless Red Court can do after her older sister wound up in an accident that caused her to be paralysed. The Red Court are the most popular girls and school, they can raise your social standing and drop it just as fast. As soon as something scandalous happens; you know these girls are going to be involved.
Ember wants revenge for what happened to her sister and to do that she’ll have to get involved with the Red Court herself. From the inside. But this is a dangerous situation and by involving herself with the most elite girls in school, she could wind up losing herself.
This book is being described as Mean Girls meets The List but other books it could be compared to are Clique Bait by Ann Valett which I read recently and seriously enjoyed and from the Red Court it looks like you could be in for a slight bit of Wonderland aesthetic too.
A lot of aspects of this book look like they’re going to be a fairly typical YA thriller. The popular girls in school are evil and destroy the unpopular people. But, honestly, I don’t care as it looks like it could be so damn good. I’m loving the whole wonderland link with the red court and the queen of hearts. Even if that’s it for the Wonderland ties I love it so much!
As well as that, have you seen the cover? Have you seen how beautiful it is? I need to have that book on my shelf like now so I can photograph it and squeal over it and this cover is just everything.
This book is bound to be an easy read so I’m pretty sure I’ll fly through it. Thrillers are usually pretty good for that anyway and I’m looking forward to hoping there’s a lot of messy intrigue and mystery.
