End of Year Reading Goals

It has been a little while since I posted anything! Sorry about that. I ran out of scheduled posts, and I’ve just not been reading much. That sadly means that I haven’t really had any ideas for what to write. But I decided I’d talk about some goals.

So, obviously, September is a weird time to be talking about goals. But I’ve been looking at the books I have unread in my box right now, and I have a lot. I had 80 unread books at the beginning of the year, and I have 89 currently. That might not seem like too many more. And to be fair, earlier in the year, the number was going down every month. But recently…I’ve been buying too many books.

In October, I’m going to be getting at least 6 books through preorders and book boxes. I’ll be getting a few more in November, and as well as that, November is my birthday month. I only have a couple of preorders in December, but it’s also Christmas. So basically…I’m still getting a lot of books at the end of the year.

And it doesn’t seem like I’ll have less than 80 books when the year ends. Technically, that’s not a problem. The more books I have to read, the better, right? And yeah, it’s good to have the choice. But having too many unread books stresses me out, so I really want to get through as many as I can.

For the rest of the year I want to buy as few books as possible. I’m supposed to be on a ban, but I’ve still been buying the odd book. I got two yesterday and another four the weekend before. But I’m not ordering books online whenever I want to. Which is better than a few months ago. I’ve been buying anime merch instead… oops?

That’s kind of the other problem. I want to get through as many books as possible as I can before November. I’m saying at least 9 for now, as that should be possible. Even with how little I’ve been reading. But, yeah, I haven’t been reading much. I’ve been gaming and reading fic and watching anime. I’m having fun with it, so I’m not mad. But I am still a little stressed that I have so much to read in such a short amount of time.

So my goal for the end of the year? I want to get my TBR back down to under 80. I won’t be unhappy if it’s only down to 79, as that’s still under 80. So that’s my goal.

What reading goals do you have you want to reach before the end of the year?

  1. I used to want to read one a week, but that’s been mighty tough recently, especially with longer books like Name Of The Wind eating up all my reading time. Now I’ll just document what I can till 2021 ends and see what Goodreads tell me. I’m not even keeping track anymore, lol. Good luck with your reading goals!
