I can’t believe another year has passed. I’ve been watching videos where people look back over their resolutions for the year before, and I debated doing that. But eventually, I decided I’d rather focus on the new year instead. I did actually achieve a lot of my goals. I think the only ones I failed were to not buy too many books and to read more Star Wars books.
What I was particularly impressed by was how much I’ve grown. I might have forgotten that I had goals, but I still aced them, and that’s awesome. This year I’m going to try to keep them more in mind. And I hope for another successful year!
Buy Fewer Books
Once again, I’m saying I need to stop buying so many books. I already have a bunch of preorders, and I’m stressing out a little over the January ones. But they’re books I want, so I’ll get them. Rather than saying I can only buy so many books a month, I’m going to say I’m only allowed two preorders a month. I can buy as many books as I like, but I need to stop and think before doing so. No more buying books for the sake of buying something, as I wind up not enjoying a bunch of them as I didn’t really look into them.
My TBR pile is huge, and I need to cut it down by a lot. So I need to make sure I’m not adding as many books.
Read More Scribd/Kindle Unlimited E-Books
This is a new goal for this year. I do use Scribd every month, but mostly for audiobooks. Yet there are e-books that I want to read on both of these services. I know I want to get my TBR read, but I need to take the time to be reading these too. It’ll give me more opportunities to read some standalone stories and to continue some series that I’ve started on them.
I’m going to aim to read at least one Scribd e-book and one Kindle Unlimited book a month. I might even make a week out of reading them every now and then. But it’ll depend on what’s going on at the time. It could be a lot of fun to do so.
Read More Thrillers
This year I’ve started to read more adult thrillers as well as plenty of YA ones. I’d love to start reading a few more adult ones in 2022. There’s so many out there, and plenty of them appeal to me. It’s just actually getting them.
Handle My ARCS Better
Last year I wanted to be asking for more ARCs, and I did. I’ve received a few different ARCs from emails I’ve sent, I’ve signed up with a few tour companies, and I’m definitely getting more physical ARCs. It’s amazing! But at the same time, I’m not keeping a close eye on when they need to be read by. I’m reading them on time, but it means I have to spend a week or so solely focused on ARCs, as the tour dates and release dates are all really close together.
That’s not the smartest thing.
So I just need to be more aware of when they’re due.
I also want to email about books that I don’t know if they’ll have an ARC or not. I’ve seen people get books they’ve asked for that I hadn’t seen were getting a physical ARC. So I need to bite the bullet and ask anyway. This still terrifies me. I’m not a big blogger by a long shot, so it’s still hard for me to get them by asking. But as I grow, it’s happening more and more, and I want to be able to take advantage of that. I just need to have more confidence.
Grow My Blog More
My blog followers doubled over the last year. I never expected that, and I don’t expect it to happen again. In 2021 I’d like to be able to get to 400 followers at least. My preference would be 500, but I’m not sure how likely that is. I have 326 followers currently, so that’s only another 74 followers. That’s entirely doable, so I’m hopeful to ace the goal again.
Grow my Twitter and Instagram
As well as my blog, I’ve also been creating bookish content on Instagram and Twitter. I have 718 followers on bookstagram and 544 followers over on Twitter. I’d love to be able to get to 900 followers on Instagram. It’s not quite the ideal 1000, but it should be possible. I may have to join in on some follow trains to achieve it, but it would definitely be a step to ensuring that I get on my book tours!
On Twitter, I’d like to be able to get 650 followers. That’s just lover 100 new followers. I don’t post much new content on there, but I’d like to be able to organise some things on there.
What are your bookish goals for 2022? Let me know below!
Such great goals! I’d also love to grow my Instagram! The algorithm over there is a mess and I can’t quite figure it out.
