Talia Hibbert is an author whose romance novels I’ve really been enjoying. They’re diverse, fun and the couples tend to be pretty cute. I have gone into them knowing they’re smutty. But even if that’s not something I’m a huge fan of in fiction, I’ve still been really enjoying them. I was lucky enough to get a copy of Act Your Age, Eve Brown through NetGalley, and I think it was my favourite of the series.
Eve is the youngest of the Brown sisters. She’s hopped from career to career, and after a recent mistake with doves, she’s been told she needs to hold down a job for a year. Luckily for her, she stumbles upon a chef’s role up in the Lake District. The B&B owner, Jacob, however, doesn’t take a liking to her. But he doesn’t have much choice other than to take her on.

So, I got through my books pretty quickly and Love Songs for Sceptics wound up being my first book of 2021. And it did not take me long. At all. It was so good and such an easy read that I had to review it on here. This was actually on my Mini TBR for January which you can check out here!
This book follows Zoë, editor of a music magazine and a woman who has been in love with her best friend Simon since they were kids. Simon has been living in the US but he moves back to London just as Zoë is experiencing some problems in her work life. All areas seem to get mixed together and Zoë has a lot to learn about herself as well as her relationships.

Hey, look, it’s one of those rare reviews of a book I actually bought. Shocker, I know. But I was really surprised by this book and wanted to write something on it.
So here we go!
Beach Read by Emily Henry follows January. A writer of ‘women’s fiction’ her books are filled with romance and happy endings but after finding out about her Father’s affair at his funeral, January is struggling to write her happy endings. Introducing Gus, literary fiction writer extraordinaire, college rival and her neighbor in the house her Dad left her. After an argument, they make a bet to try writing each other’s genre to see if that helps and that’s where the shenanigans begin.

If you’re looking for a fun enemies to lovers romance that will teach you some things, then do I have the book for you!
In many ways Shipped is very much your typical chick-lit novel but one that slips into the romance genre. Our heroine is Henley, a woman who has been working her way up through the marketing department of an adventure cruise line. When a new role is created, she’s one of two names up for the promotion. The only problem is that the other is Graeme, her incredibly attractive work nemesis. To give the both of them the chance to prove what they could do as digital marketing manager, they’re sent on a cruise to the Galapagos to see what they can come up with to help promote that area. Only, things are never as simple as we’d like them to be and being in such close quarters with Graeme on this trip may mean that Henley learns to like him a lot more than expected.

I love December! Christmas is coming and I’m super excited for the holidays. Usually, I just celebrate the month with snacks and buying those last few gifts but this year I decided to get through some Christmas reads too!
And what better way to share the celebrations then reviewing a few of the books I’ve read in the hope that you’ll all pick some up too!

Yeah, you read that title right. I, Rosina from Lace and Dagger Books, the person who has claimed many times that they hate romance novels, is writing something on them.
I made a video like this before on my booktube channel before I stopped updating it. Basically saying that though I still prefer chick-lit, I understand that the genres are coming together more and more. And if I want to enjoy a good rom-com in book form, I’m going to have to start getting more into romance novels.
So, this isn’t a guide for me, but more a post to ask you guys to guide me towards romance novels. In future guides, I will be providing you guys with my expertise. But I thought this post might be a bit of fun. And, at the very least, hopefully, one that people will actually comment on!
